FLORA IN WINTER. The “Seated Male Figure” of Aztec Veracruz culture (900 CE-1200CE) was the art object to which Molly Beard responded in her arrangement for Flora in Winter at the Worcester Art Museum. The sand colored terracotta figure has small traces of red paint on his chest. Molly spent some time studying this figure and researching his history. She chose plant material to reflect both the spirit and attitude of the sculpture as well as flowers found in the region such as the Birds of Paradise that are in sharp contrast to the monochromatic Seated Male. Gretchen Schuler assisted by communicating with the museum, driving, and plenty of admiring.

January 2018 - Flora in Winter
Carol Spann and Holly Landsittel represented the Wayland Garden Club with an arrangement at Flora in Winter at the Worcester Art Museum in January. They did a submerged arrangement which is a wonderful way to showcase flowers because the water magnifies their beauty. Their arrangement was a tribute to the museum’s current Winslow Homer exhibit: “Our idea was to nod to Homer's stunning works of the ocean by showing treasures below the water's surface with the shells and Calla Lilies, and we aimed to evoke the wind above with the naturally curvy Bells of Ireland.”
November 2017

Art in Bloom 2017
In April 2017, Joy Sayegh - as arranger - and Jennifer Koeller - as her assistant, represented the Wayland Garden Club at the Museum of Fine Art's Art in Bloom. Their arrangements was a response to 'Expulsion from the Garden of Eden' by Thomas Cole. In this photograph, Jennifer and Joy are joined by new member Irene Chang in front of the painting and arrangement.
Flora in Winter 2017
The 2017 arrangement for the Worcester Art Museum's Flora in Winter was created by Iryna Priester and Sonja Strong. The art work was a bust of Caligula (Cais Caesar Augustus). The light and dark side of his mind was evoked in the shape of a cranium. Several members visited together to see our Garden club members' fine work.
