Field Trip

Late May or Early June 2018

Wakefield Estate, Milton

Come join us on a visit to Milton, MA for an hour tour of the Wakefield Estate which is the culmination of three centuries of use by eight generations of a single family. It was settled in 1706 as a rural farmstead, then grew into a gentleman’s estate, and finally evolved into a year round property for the horticultural experimentation. It is preserved by the Mary Polly Wakefield Trust to carry on her legacy and her vision for citizenry engaged and knowledgeable about the environment surrounding it.

We will be arranging lunch for those who wish and can stay longer. Admission is free but we will charge a small amount to make an appropriate donation to the trust. The exact date will be announced later.

Welcome to the online home of the Wayland Garden Club.  Since 1922, our club has actively sought to stimulate and educate members in their knowledge and practice of conservation, horticulture and the artistic use of plant material throughout the community.  Our passion is evident with our highly-attended workshops and lectures, and through our community service projects.
